02 / SUPPORTING POWER INFRASTRUCTURE

Energy Storage & Distribution Control Wire

Equipment-internal wire for BESS, UPS, power distribution and control cabinets supporting data center infrastructure. Keep power, auxiliary and control requirements distinct.

Request wire selection support

Match each circuit to its role.

ENERGY STORAGE

BESS & UPS equipment

Define battery subsystem, conversion and auxiliary circuit requirements separately, including working voltage, current profile and protection.

POWER DISTRIBUTION

Distribution cabinets

Evaluate internal branches and protected connections for the cabinet layout, heat rise, terminal geometry and installation conditions.

CONTROL & AUXILIARIES

Control equipment

Match wire to relays, fans, monitoring and control circuits. Specify shielding or a dedicated communication cable where required.

Compare internal wire options.

Connection / design need Related products What to confirm
AC cabinet / auxiliary wiring UL1015 ↗UL10070 ↗UL1028 ↗ PVC candidates. Verify gauge, circuit voltage, finished diameter and enclosure routing.
Larger-gauge cabinet branches UL1283 ↗UL1284 ↗ Assess current duty, heat rise, insulation dimensions and termination compatibility.
Heat-exposed internal wiring UL3271 ↗UL3289 ↗UL3133 ↗ Crosslinked or silicone candidates. Match thermal duty and mechanical protection.
Small-gauge hot-zone circuits UL3135 ↗ Silicone candidate. Verify gauge range, circuit rating and required flame test.
Higher-voltage DC evaluation UL10269 ↗UL11627 ↗ Require explicit suitable DC coverage for the supplied construction. Confirm GFINE file coverage.
Higher-voltage AC evaluation UL10974 ↗ Treat as an AC-rating candidate. Do not infer 2000VDC suitability.

Selection guidance only. A candidate UL AWM style is not equipment approval or a statement of GFINE certification coverage. Confirm the exact supplied construction, current UL information, GFINE file coverage, conductor range, AC/DC rating and required flame test before supply. Do not infer a DC rating from an AC rating.

Engineering priorities.

01

Separate power from control

Select power conductors for actual current duty and thermal conditions. Select auxiliary and control wire for the circuit, terminal and signal requirements.

02

Verify the environment

Check flame performance, fluid exposure, moisture, abrasion and vibration. Crosslinked insulation does not automatically mean halogen-free or VW-1.

03

Keep the scope internal

These candidates do not automatically qualify as outdoor installation, photovoltaic string, utility transmission or shielded communication cable.

Questions equipment teams ask.

Can one style cover every cabinet connection?

Do not assume so. Battery-side, AC output, auxiliary supply and control circuits can have different voltage, current, routing and approval requirements.

Does a higher AC rating cover a DC battery circuit?

Not automatically. Confirm an explicit applicable DC rating for the exact construction and the intended equipment requirements. A 600VAC marking alone is not evidence of 800VDC suitability.

Can UL3135 be supplied as an AWG4 substitute?

Historical UL3135 information lists 26-12 AWG. It is not an AWG4 substitute. UL1028 is also outside AWG4 in its historical 22-6 AWG range.

Start with one connection.

Send the equipment type, connection drawing or BOM line, working voltage (AC/DC), current profile, ambient temperature, gauge, maximum finished diameter, terminal details and required approvals.
